Photographers who reflect the style of artists working in other mediums

Before photography was available, many artists who paint and draw tried to do so in a representational style. For instance, perhaps Caravaggio is analogous in style with someone like Karsh? Today contemporary artists in other mediums sometimes reflect individual photographic styles. Can you draw an analogy with a particular artist and photographer? I ask the question because I think the response may make some of us learn more by looking more closely at the detail of each.
