“What are you taking photos of mate?” he asks.
"I'm documenting my era."

"Oh sorry, I now realise I was being rude & ignorant by interrupting & interrogating you. Please forgive me & carry on with your worthy task. I'll see if I can find some important police work to attend to."

Well, that's how it should be.

Joel Meyerowitz does not exactly hide in a corner

I've seen that before and i was inspired by it. Its good to see it again. That's exactly the sort of bravado that i admire. Im still new to this street photography caper but i'm undeterred, and perhaps even addicted. I took my camera out with me again this afternoon and made a few more frames, this time standing right in the middle of the footpath rather than off to the side and i waited until people got close enough for a head and shoulder shot. Nobody seemed to mind.

Joel likes people and people like him,
he likes being there, and he is happy in the vortex -
he swims through it, and people accept him as part of the scene.
He KNOWS the scene, he belongs there. There is a quick smile when it is needed.

Watch again, and see that he is ALSO an old school,
past master of the Leica. He is always adjusting the focus of the (wide angle) lens.
It isn't THAT hard to train yourself to do that - it is easier than playing a violin -
and you can do it with an SLR, too. You DO need to stick to one prime lens, though,
and teach yourself how to adjust the camera without stopping to look.
If you can do THAT, you have the attention to become a part of the scene,
and blend in. 'course Meyerowitz can shoot 8x10 like this too.

Great vid, Bob. Thanks.

Would it be proper to respond with "I am minding my own business"? I suppose it would depend on the attitude of the FSC (Fatherland Security Company) officer. Be sure to have some business cards that indicate you are indeed a photographer, and have your attorney's number handy too (just in case).
