OP, that stuff only goes so far. Even if it is a good replacement, I think photogs like the experience themselves. Just like they like to drive cars themselves. Time will tell.

I guess AI photography will become useful for the average family and vacation photographer when it can help them take the best pictures possible. But it will still be limited to the time and place a person points the camera. The next step would be to walk around with a 360 rotating camera on your head that takes the best possible images of everything around you, and that asks you to get up at 3 AM to drive to a certain place to get the sunup landscape photograph of your dreams. :D

I don't think either the computer or google enjoy it anywhere as much as I do.

No computer can get as much satisfaction as I do, when processing a color print and having it come out perfectly color balanced, and then doing it over and over and over, idendically, for a holiday print exchange.

AI is only as good as its limitations. I know, I development enough to see the limitations in everything it was used for.

When will they have ai that can load sheet film, read my mind, set up a view camera, apply movements, choose an exposure to give details and tones that I like, develop the film, burn & dodge a print, mount it, and clean up the darkroom? Never? That's what I thought.
