Thanks for this notice Nikki. It must have just been released as I could find no mention of it in a Google search.

I remove my hat and stand in honor as he passes.

As a fellow Kansan, I say that GP ranks right next to Dwight Eisenhower in terms of Kansans who "made it" in the World. GP's accomplishments earned him the title of "Great".

Another giant of the photography world is gone. I can't say I care much for his work, but you can't deny the imact it made.

America has lost a fine citizen and a very good photographer, movie maker and musician. Sad am I to hear of his death.

We had a thread something like this a couple of years ago when another photographer died and it was noted that photographers seem to live very long lives.

Maybe the selenium.

RIP. GP

Michael

The DMA, in Dallas, held a retrospective of his work last year....a very talanted man, a very sad day. Let us all celebrate his life, we can only hope to have such a full one.

RIP

One of his books, "Half Past Autumn" is a great one to learn about his multi- talent in music, poetry, cinema, and photography.

I liked his book "Choice of Weapons", too. Great talent, interesting life.

CNN announced his passing today. He was a great photographer and also directed the movie Shaft with Richard Roundtree. What a legacy.
