Anyone interested in a workshop or photo trip in Virginia this spring drop a line. We have lots of stuff here in the Blue Ridge as well as great historical things along the James River in the Eastern portion of the state. Darkroom access is also available at my home as well as other locations.

Keith-

lovely building, run by a cult of whackos that make the Theosophists seem more mainstream than Baptists. Have you read any of the stuff on their website? Do not attempt to adjust your monitor - you have now entered the twilight zone.

That'd make it all the more interesting! Anyway there are many...let's say "different".... types of people in the C'ville area. I've come to really enjoy them for their oddities.

Michel, everyone would be welcome.

I would be there in a heartbeat. Thanks for the nice offer. I used to live in Round Hill and miss the area so much. I'd also like to bring my son, a 12 year old wonderful budding photographer.
Will you be making a list to email?
Thanks gain.
Tom

Somehow we need to get a census on what interest folks. We have a huge assortment of opportunities around here for nature (mouintains, log cabins, history all the way to spanish moss and cyprus knees and plantations) as well as oddballs and strange places like Swananoah and De Jeurnet, We could do some small trips for those who need a break before mid April, and more during the mid summer months. Also, between Keith and I we have two darkrooms that are fully equipted with large and medium format enlargers. I have a personal interest in Lith printing and have lots of chemicals. There is plenty of lodging around here and we can point anyone in the right direction. Charlottesville also has many top shelf resturaunts and some of the best chef's around. Lets keep in touch. My email is side_c@yahoo.com. I also can take a small number of folks on a photo tour of Western Albemarle in my motorcyle/sidecar.

I'm game for meeting fellow film fotogs just about anywhere in VA, be it for a photo outing or an afternoon of coffee/beer/whatever and showing prints.

I'd be interested if it does't interfere with my overpowering social calender.

I'll chat with Richard about the possible venues and dates. We're a pretty hospitable lot here in C'ville. Weather will be nice by April; if folks want to congregate before then just to show some prints and chat or show off cameras or do some darkrooming, I'd be up for that.

I'm so excited about coming down with my boy. Richard said he's more then welcome which made me even more excited. I really love the area and really like the idea of meeting you all.
I also very happy about my return to film. It's proven to be just right for me.
Please let me know when you are coming close to nailing down dates so I can block it off.
Best,
Tom

Just to keep folks up to date on the photo shoot planned here in Virginia. Kieth and I went to Swananoah today to explore and do a preliminary shoot. Ignoring the no trespassing sighns we ventured up to the mansion and met the caretakers. The place offers some unique shots. Nothing like a decaying old mansion with lots of marble and a lot of old gardens to shoot. We spent a couple of hours until I thought I heard banjos playing. We packed up and went looking for Phil Delaney, the go to guy to set up a shoot for later. We just missed him at the Inn at Afton, but did find out about the availability of rooms at the Inn. It's a bit rundown but they do rent rooms. More will be revealed later. I'll post the details when I hear from Phil. At this point I'm thinking about the middle of May for the gathering.

I tried looking up some info on "Swannanoa". What little I could find sounds interesting. You also have Crabtree Falls nearby, the highest falls east of the Mississippi.

Tom, did you do a APUG shoot with the NY/NJ crew in Asbury Park in June of '05?

RPippin, I tried to e-mail about motorcycles/photography. Address would not take.

Photobum, I did in fact shoot in Asbury Park around '05 but it was not with the APUG group, it was an assignment for the Gay Pride parade. OMG, it has photo ops every where you turn.
