Hey folks,

I just dropped off one of my rolls of film at the Icon photo lab for a whopping $33 dollars! That includes development of the film, 36 4x6 prints, and a scan of each negative (5mb).

The only reason I had to take it there was because I had to push the film +1 stop and seeing as I do not have access to a dark room at the moment, I had to find a lab that would be able to push film. I've been looking online, but most of the photo labs in LA seem pretty pricey.

Do you guys have any recommendations for a good, reliable, AND AFFORDABLE! photo lab in the Los Angeles area?

Thanks!

Jason

If you're doing color, you might also try Colortek on Jefferson in Culver City.

Thanks for the suggestions! I had no idea Samy's developed film. I'll have to check out their services next time.

Samy's sends out to A&I. But they seem to charge less than A&I charges directly to customers on some work.

A&I does very good work. A little expensive, but worth it.

PC Colour Lab does fairly good work and is reasonably priced. They're located in Downtown near Temple & Center (east of Alameda).

if you're shooting black and white you should start processing yourself. i live in hollywood and used to go to photo impact and a&i. as a whole, they are terrible compared to the job i'm doing now. plus, i've only been processing for a month and have already saved about $500. i'm also able to choose the best developer for the type of film i'm using, which is something the lab doesn't do.

Samys processes color. They send out the black and white to A&I.
