I took a photo of an old woman examining a painting at an art gallery. Is there any issue with posting a photo with a painting, or another photo in it as part of the composition? I don't want it infringe on any copyrights if it's an issue.
Thanks, Jeff

No issue at all, unless you are actually "reproducing" the work in a way that is a reasonable substitute for the original, which would cause the owner of the reproduction/publishing rights for the original to potentially lose income (AKA bootlegging). You are not doing this, however. If you were to take a shot of the painting by itself, and use the image to make t shirts or posters of the painting, that you then sell, then there would be an issue. However, simply having copyrighted work appear as an element within your own work does not constitute copyright infringement, even if you sell your work.
