bumping puts the tread back into the new post section and therefore puts it into the view of the visitors.

Hi Bill,

Would you mind expanding on the logistics for this workshop? Where are people staying? Where will we be meeting? I was in Philly last fall and found accomodations and parking to be a problem on the weekend. Thanks!

Cheers, Krystyna

Krystyna,
We are working on the details and logistics and will follow up shortly.

Cheers,
Bill

God I wish I could go! Right now $300 dollars to a student is a lot of money

PS: For those considering going I bought his book and it is FANTASTIC, I learned so many things from it. I can only imagine what I would learn in person.

Workshop Description

Les has provided the following description of the two day event.

"The content of the Street Workshop is as follows I assume a two day event.

Day One: Meet in a suitable place where I will show examples of my street
work mainly made on similar workshops. During this short talk I will also
prepare the attendees in what to expect and talk through methods of dealing with people in the street as well as the practical needs of camera use and exposure in street environment. I have found the most important aspect of this address is to start to build confidence in the attendees and prepare them for meeting and talking to complete strangers in a different environment. The talk will take about 1 hour after which we will hit the
streets. My usual approach is to start by selecting a situation in the
chosen area we are working in and take one of the participants with me to
approach someone I think is an interesting subject. I make the first contact
and then get the attendee to follow from there and start making
photohgraphs. In 10 years of doing this workshop I have never met with
serious failure at this point, most people are happy to be photographed
providing the initial approach is sensitive and caring. Thereafter I work
with small groups or one on one where needed and encourage attendees to talk to and photograph subjects.

Day Two: More work in the streets but different methods are demonstrated and used. I show how I make photographs without asking the subject and also set up what I call "my stage" where I wait for suitable things to happen that will make interesting photographs. I also encourage attendees to observe people, not just on the day but to spend time wherever they are just watching people's actions and how they react to situations.
If possible we can spend the final couple of hours looking at work produced
on the workshop provided attendees use digital cameras and we have a
computer to display them. I do this in the UK and it works very well."

Cheers,
Bill

Clarification

It seems that a bit of clarification is in order. The cost of the workshop does not include any hotel accommodations, transportation or meal costs.

Bill

Sorry to hear that Bill. I had the good fortune of attending this clinic in Toronto, and it is truly a gem.
