Hello all,
Hasselblad manufactured both grey and black B50 lens caps for the Planar 80 2.8. Does anyone know if there is a timeline or if they were made concurrently?
I am guessing the grey was made during the chrome lens era.
Thanks
Mar

Check to see if there is any lens cap information at Hasselblad Historical www.hasselbladhistorical.eu/HS/HSTable.aspx My Hasselblad 500mm C lens came with the gray cap. I will check the serial number to determine when it was made.

It seems that the black caps were introduced with the advent of the T* lenses.
Thank you for your help

I fully agree. I have a silver 80mm Planar and it has the grey caps.

I use the gray Hasselblad lens caps for my 30mm C Fisheye lens and my 500mm C telephone lens so that they have the proper period lens caps.

You may also want to refer to some period sales brochures, they often included pictures of some of the accessories, and, in Hasselblad's case, their reference numbers.

The grey caps were used from 1957 to mid-1974. As lenses became T* coated they were sold with black caps. When I was selling Hasselblad gear in the late1970s you could buy either color cap from a Hasselblad dealer. We stocked both.
