IMOP dourbalistar hit the nail on the head. You are "looking" and not necessarily "seeing". There are shapes, forms and textures of ordinary objects around our houses and in our neighborhoods that can make for attractive images. A number of years ago my wife was cleaning out a pantry and was going to throw out an old wok that she had forgotten was even there. It had a great patina and I have been using it as a background to photograph whatever will fit from flowers, fruits and vegetables, cooking utensils and some old tools. Photographed with 2 1/4 and 4x5 and printed enlarged in silver gelatin, contact printed in platinum/palladium on paper as well as on cotton vellum backed by gold leaf. A trip to the supermarket can supply a wealth of material and you can eat the subject.

Remember that the real camera is between your ears. The rest of the stuff lets you share what you saw with others.
