Pentax V Spotmeter - batteries?

I just replaced the batteries in my Pentax V Spotmeter with brand new Mallory SR44W's. I checked them for power and they are fine. The manual says that the battery check needle in the spotmeter should be between 11.5 and 14.5. Mine only goes to 12 which is certainly within the range, but barely. Do I need different batteries. i.e., another type?

If the manual says it's good, then it sounds like you're good to go.

Just replaced the batteries in my Pentax Spotmeter V and the check needle also went to 12.
