Pentax Spot Meter

I had been scrambling around trying to find a Pentax Spot Meter to replace the one that was recently stolen from me along with a bunch of other stuff. I found a nice one a few weeks ago, however continued to have a search on eBay for an area around where I live. I hope to recover some of the more esoteric goodies that were take and perhaps cause a little grief for the person how took my stuff. This morning a deal turned up for a meter (not mine) that I feel is a dang good buy. $400 Buy It Now on a like new meter. eBay # 220500584048. Don't let the violation of the theft consume you - it'll make to a victim twice over. Get the replacement meter and move on with your photography. That doesn't stop you from combing ebay or craiglist or local pawn shops in an attempt to nail the bastard - just don't let him or her get the better of you.

Thank you for you "right on" advice. Fortunately most of what was stolen was also insured for the proper amount. On one level it gave me the opportunity to rethink what I wanted and needed in my kit. I've done that and have added a piece or two and deleted a piece or two. There are a couple of little items that were picked up over the years which will require a little patience on my part to find again. I do feel like I have moved on from this experience and have changed a habit or two. Like leaving a bunch of gear in my car was not such a good idea. Bill Barber

Sorry for your loss of equipment. I don't think that ($400) is a very good price on the meter. Those have been coming down in price (except the remaining new in the box) to a point I wouldn't consider anything at or above $300 a good deal.

I've been following them on Ebay, have one I plan to sell, and there have been many selling under $250.

Just a thought.

I just missed one on Craig's list for 50 bucks. Then a couple weeks ago I got one in like new condition with Zone VI modification for 125.00 again on Craig's list. It is worth keeping an eye on.

It did sell at $400 BIN. Given the condition (Like New) it was at a price that I would have paid if I still needed a replacement. The ones selling for less than this on eBay generally were not in as good a condition. Craigs list is a good place to buy stuff, especially if one has patience. I've bought a bunch of gear there, as well as, on eBay. My experience on eBay has been that one can expect a smoother transaction than on Craigslist. Bill Barber

Over at LF Forum I have seen them priced at less than $400. You will have to be patient and quick on the trigger though.
