Hi all, just purchased a Pentax S2 with 55 f2 and 135 f3.5 lenses. I have no idea how to use it as I don't have much experience using film camera. I was having hard time finding lever to open Bach cover but finally manage to find the little latch on the side. I also manage to attach the light meter on top of the camera but not sure if I did it right or not.

Every thing on the camera works fine except it is very hard to move film rewind lever. There is no roll in the camera but the winder should move freely. Am I doing something wrong. Is there any place I can find thmanual for this camera?

Thanks

Edit: sorry, I managed to fix the issue, I opened the back door and managed to push up the film winding lever. The shaft was bit sticky and that was the reason it was not working properly. I wipe the shaft with an alcoholic wipe and it starts working fine. I still appreciate any tips using the wonderful classic camera, specially how to use the top light meter.

Hi!
Welcome!
Everyone has to start somewhere and start with the basics.

The manual for the similar S1 and S3 is here: http://www.butkus.org/chinon/pentax/pentax_s1_s3/pentax_s1_s3.htm

The manual for the clip-on meter is here: http://www.butkus.org/chinon/flashes_meters/asahi_pentax_clip-on/asahi_pentax_clip-on.htm
There are 2 version of the meter. They are similar in functioning.

I suggest to you to get hold of a basic Photography manual. Anything from the 80s or 90s will do.
Google is your friend as well as your local library if you have one nearby.

Enjoy!

Hi Ricardo,

thanks for the response and valuable links. I found very good information about this camera. I still need to know what kind of battery I can use in the light meter as the original is missing.

thanks, Pendu

The clip-on meter uses PX625.
You can use an hearing aid battery ZA675 with a rubber O ring in place of that mercury battery.

I would think that any plumber shop would have it.
Any shop that sells tools for construction would have them.
Here in the UK you can find O rings in most street markets.

Hi Pentaxpete,

Thanks for your video link for Pentax film cameras. Your explanation for all three cameras is great. Seems like you have some decent cameras and good lens collection.

Thanks again.

Regards, Pendu

In the US it's a #9 O-ring local hardware or big box store should have it.
