Hi guys. First of all I need to say that I am a complete beginner, so I apologize for my lack of expertise and ignorance in the matter. I recently bought a Pentax P30 (of course second-hand).
My question is the following: is there something I can do, or is it going to go to the trash bin? I'd really appreciate any suggestions, or your previous experience.
Thank you very much.

Oh I just realized I attached the wrong pictures. I attached now the right one. The picture of the bottom I think it's quite explanatory, but my expertise is too low to judge it. Please, let me know what do you think and what would you do in my case.
Thank you!

I am still clueless about the fault !

Only a expert on this very model could say if something is wrong. You expect way too much from us.

Or is it about the bottom plate missing ????
Cut a new one from ABS- , brass- or aluminium-sheet (covering the battery compartment too !!) and mount it.

Having just replied to another post you have made, seeing the first two pictures above, can you tell us if you've just bought a set of cameras together, possibly with the title 'Not working / for parts only'? Or did you buy them all in one go with the knowledge that at least one of the cameras is in good condition and actually works?

Hi Terry!
I'm currently living in Palestine to work, and here it's not that hard finding in the market these kinds of items. Most of the time the seller doesn't know anything about the item. In this market, there were at least 25 analogic cameras and I bought the four I thought they could potentially work. After I bought them I realized my ignorance in the topic and here I am. They might potentially work, but I guess they need maintenance, but I am aware that it's uneconomic repairing them. For these four cameras and a lens I paid around 60 dollars. Do you have any suggestions or experience with these cameras?
Thank you very much. (Sorry for my English)

I’ve never used a P30 but doesn’t it require batteries to work?

That's a nice entry level camera with easy film loading, but both of mine need servicing because I think the lubricants have dried out: Wind lever doesn't stop after one cycle. I removed top and bottom covers, but I haven't yet figured out where the problem lies (I can see a lever which tends to stick, but not what it's attached to) so maybe I need to remove the mirror box in order to gain better access.

Exactly, what about the bottom plate missing? Do you think I can do something about? Especially for the batteries spot, I can't close it. Any suggestions? Thank you very much.

Yes, it requires a battery to work if it is similar to a P3n (which I think it is). I've used one (P3n) since 1989 with zero problems, but finding a base plate would be hard.
