I picked up an Asahi Pentax K from an estate sale a couple years ago. I set it aside and now that I am going through my 35mm cameras and lenses to post for sale/trade I have to decide what I want to do with this one. It came with a 55mm f1.8 "zebra" lens that has sand in it. The body is in good shape but sticks on the slower shutter speeds and probably has a bit of sand in it too knowing my luck. I am here to ask the hive if I should send it off for repair (and if anyone knows who would be able to repair it) or if I should just let it go. I do like the camera and believe I would have tons of fun with it but is it unique enough and worth the expense to repair? What say you? I do have a Spotmatic SP (another estate sale find) that the previous owner scraped the brand name off the lenses and the body but it does run like a top and the lenses are in perfect condition otherwise, so I can tell you that I do enjoy the old Pentax screw mount cameras so the "K" would just be more fun!

There was a recent similar thread (https://www.photrio.com/forum/threads/repair-shop-for-early-pentax-ap-tower-26.166316/#post-2163873) where I posted Eric the Pentax repair guys website https://pentaxs.com/.

It really is a lot of fun to use a meterless camera especially given the ultra wide latitude of today's color negatives or b&w films!

I just sent an email to Eric. Thanks for the info!!!!!!

It is a nifty camera and would fit perfectly in my smaller collection of 35mm cameras. When I do start culling the collection it will be a sad day but I have too many and not enough time to use them all.....
