Alright, After using HEI for a few years, I have gotten the hang of it. But before, I was using it in a Nikon FM. I recently got an Pentax MZ-S, but before running a roll of HEI in it, I was wondering if the data imprints at the bottom would fog the film up.

The MZ-S has a feature I have never had the chance to use before, in which it imprints the apertue, shutter value, and the like at the bottom of the film, in between the sprockets. But I was wondering if this very same feature might fog up the bottom of the HEI.

Does anyone know?

My other question is what will happen if I use my Super-Takumar 50mm F/1.4 with HEI. The lens is a rare-earth lens, and so I was wondering what effect that may or may not have on the film itself. I quite like the yellowing to lowwer my film contrast, esp with Neopan, and now with Pan-F, but I was wondering what effect it may have with Infrared photography.

Thanks!

I believe you can easily disable that date-stamp feature. Pull out your camera manual and check on that.

Of greater concern is whether or not the MZ-S's infrared film advance counter will cause some fog creep into the frame when you shoot HIE. More often than not, this is apparently not a great concern, but you may want to find an ME body to shoot your HIE with. (An ME shares your MZ-S lenses. Good old Pentax.) You may want to run a test roll to see if it's going to be an issue with this camera.

I can't imagine the lens you've mentioned being a problem with HIE, but again, only one way to find out.
