Pentax 67II Wooden Grip

After an internal debate I've finally got the wooden grip. Useless for focusing but great for lifting the camera without the strap.

The quick focus ring allows you to focus with your left hand on the grip.

The quick focus ring allows you to focus with your left hand on the grip.

But I guess it has to be set at a certain focusing range.
Or can one focus through the whole range with the same hand still at the grip?
