Hi everyone,

I've recently bought a used Pentax 67II. It seems to function properly, but I found an issue with shutter release button.
As per the user manual there should be 3 button positions: not pressed, pressed half the way and fully pressed.
I'm not allowed to post links or pictures, the 3 positions are described on page 20 of P67II user manual. The page is headed BASIC OPERATION [PREPARATION]

Mine seems to be locked in halfway pressed. It does not go back to "not pressed" position, however it does press down to "fully pressed" and releases the shutter.
The indication and lightmeter are always on in the viewfinder. The manual suggests they should be off when the shutter release is not pressed.

It's not a major issue, however I found that it affects the bulb mode. When I switch the dial to "bulb" and release the shutter it flips up the mirror, opens the shutter curtain but when I unpress the button it does not close the shutter. I found the only way to do so - turn the body to "lock" position. But I don't think this is how it should operate.

I would appreciate any help on this matter. Is this a common issue? Is it easily fixable?
Thank you in advance.
Vladimir.

I'd agree with your conclusion about how it should work but don't have a solution for you.
That's never stopped me from taking a SWAG though.

An obstruction preventing the switch/button from fully releasing? It may be a simple internal adjustment or, if it's been serviced possibly
incorrectly assembled.
Can you pull the button out far enough to turn off the meter?

If I screw the release cable in, I can pull the button some millimeters up. But that does not disable the meter.

I've learned something new. If I release the shutter in bulb mode with a release cable attached and then pull the finger off the trigger it does not close the shutter.
But, if I hit the cable release trigger several times it does close the shutter at some position or angle.
