I just purchased a 67ii with both zoom lenses and the older SMC-T 200mm and 300mm lenses. I'm am definitely thinking I would like to get some prime lenses.

I do mostly portrait work, both body and head shots. The 2.8 lenses really appeal to me, but have some questions:

Are the shutter leaf lenses have a different look? I do want to use fill flash in the future in the field, but I don't do it now. I realize that's the biggest advantage, but I wonder about how the leaf lenses effect the image/lighting.

What do you suggest? the 150 or 165? I've also thought about the 200 f/4 SMC lens with the closer focusing...

I'll likely pick up the 105 2.4, if I can find one cheap.

Any insight or thoughts would be nice.

For portrait you will want a 165 LS f4.0. It has a leaf shutter in it. The only other P67 lens with a leaf shutter is a 90 LS F2.8. I like it a lot for full figure portrait. My 105 2.4 is almost never used by me for some reason. Another lens to consider for portrait is 120 soft focus. It has no leaf shutter in it. But it is one that gives you soft focus effect if you want to explore soft focus effects. It allows you to shoot close up to as close as 1 .5 foot.

This website has information on all of the pentax 67 lenses:

I would say grab the 105, then the 165/4LS, and most importantly the 55mm f/4 SMC (latest). I have the 45, 55 SMC, and 105, and they are all superb - the 45 is good for sweeping wide angles, and the 105 is great for portraits but the 55 is the real jewel. Probably the sharpest lens in the entire system, near-zeiss quality for a fraction of the price.

What I have now are the latest versions of 105/2.4 for every day use, 55/4 for landscape etc and 165/2.8 for portrait. I think that'll all I need for the time being
