Anyone know of a way to shoot double or multiple exposures with the older Pentax 67? I thought the button in the center of the film advance lever might do this, but to no avail. What is that little button for anyway? I have had this camera for only a short while, and I really like it, but would like to experiment with multi exposures. I have looked at the manual on line but no help there. Thanks....Dennis

I don't know Dennis. I've got the 67II. Someone else should though.
Where in the great white north are you from? I'm from Cross Village originally.

I live in Gaylord, just 50 miles south of the bridge. Been here since 1978. Cross village is my favorite place in Northern Michigan. Leggs Inn and the fantastic beach for summertime swims north of town. I would live there if I could find a way to support myself in that paradise. Thank heavens the developers have not encroached there to much yet! I would like to upgrade to the 67II, but need a couple years to accumulate the funds. Does the 67II have multi exposure capabilities? Thanks...Dennis

Yes the 67II can do multiple exposure but they won't match up because cocking the lever the first time moves the film slightly. You have to use the 2nd exposure if that makes sense.

The only way I know to do this with a 67 or 6x7 is by using one of the leaf shutter lenses. You can't do it with the camera shutter unless you have a 67II. I've tried to trick it by goofing around with the frame counter but in order to cock the shutter you must advance the film. If you have a LS lens you will have no problem.

Pre-67II, it was possible to send the camera to Pentax to have it modified to perform double exposures. I don't what the cost was, nor how it worked. Since the film advance mechanism seems to be the weakest link on the 67, I wonder whether the adjustment made it worse or better in the long run.

The button in the center of the film counter can be used to fool the camera into believing it has film in it.
1) Open back of camera & it resets to zero.
2) Push down & rotate 'til counter displays # & continue to hold
3) Close back & camera thinks it's loaded. Good to know if you're having some probs & want to check camera.

There is a way, but I've never used it. As I recall the camera came with a little metal tab that you needed to insert (rather awkwardly at that) into a slot below the rewind lever which allowed the shutter to be cocked without advancing the film. Since I'm nowhere near my camera, I can't promise that that's exactly the right description, but it's pretty close.

Thanks for the input. I might play around with this a bit and see what I can do. It's nice to know about "fooling the camera " into thinking it's loaded with film. One of the things I like about this site is the willingness of participants to give hints and tips. Dennis
