Pentax 67 - Isn't the light meter supposed to work with extension tubes?

I recently got myself a Pentax 67 (with the TTL finder), and a set of auto extension tubes.
When I tried to do some actual photography using these tubes I found that the light meter in the camera is not working with this setup. According to the user manual it seems like it is supposed to work with the tubes, with the lens in manual mode.

Are there anybody with experience with this?

You will need to move the switch on the lens from auto to manual so that the aperture shuts down, that is manual metering mode. So, open wide up to focus then stop down do to chosen aperture to meter and shoot. It is exactly the same on the 67II with it's inbuilt meter and AE mode.

There are different types of extension tubes for the 67. One has a coupling lever that syncs with the aperture control and automatic exposure system of the camera. The other type (three different tubes) doesn't.

Regardless, I am more confident working in full manual mode when using either. To speed my workflow, I've calculated the drop off in light for each length of tube, and taped it to the outside the tube so that I don't forget to add the extra exposure.

Be very careful not to get light in from the "eye side" of the prism when you are metering with the aperture stopped down. It's very easy to ruin a reading when you are stopped down to f/22 with the aperture on manual stop-down.

Thanks. after all it seems to have been a case of flaky electrical contact. I tried again yesterday and the light meter kicked in as it was supposed to.
