Search shows last discussion in 2015. Perhaps by now somebody has one, does not like, or at least can share experience when MF on N / NII body ?

Anyone know of sources?

I find it quite challenging (or at least not comfortable) to MF on N body and too new for me to trust focus confirmation with MF lenses. Love the original how it focuses, but AF forced some screen adjustments, although I am not sold on the idea that Pentax had to dump split image or micro image from standard screen, especially when at introduction of N to market, full compatibility with MF lenses was a strong selling point.

I have my P645N fitted with a split-prism focusing screen and I am very pleased with it. However, for manual focusing I prefer my original 645 over the 645N as the original 645 viewfinder was designed for manual focussing. Nevertheless I can wholeheartedly recommend it.

Thanks, any time you decide against the screen in your N I'll be glad to acccept full guardianship of it

I have the same thing going here, 645 for MF is superior to N, unfortunately I did not acquire the NII to fill up the vault with AF lenses and that was a surprise once MF lens was mounted on it. Even more so the strange lack of suitable screens for purchase. Pentax dropped the ball on this one big time.

It took me a year of haunting camera shows before I found mine. If there's an old line camera store in your area, have them check their "junk" drawers.

I guess I must be doing OK since I've been looking for one for only a month. Hopefully by Christmas I get it

... my preference is for the microprism version based on my experience with P6x7 screens ...
That is another benefit the original 645 has over the 645N as the standard focusing screen of the 645 has both a split-image and microprism

Just in case somebody is between a decision to either acquire one of above dreaded screens or ... jump off a bridge ... AB-82

30 USD including shipping and user feedback stating it is an okay screen ... worth a try I would say.

Yeah, I thought that too, ordered and will post experience. I hope pics are not exact as it looks thinner than original, which could spell trouble by itself.

This is why I have kept both the original and the Nii body. Manual focus on the original 645 is great and for that alone I find it worth owning it. That and the 645 A 35mm lens.

It is a bit challenging to pack both though.

The original 645 and the 105/2.4 I would say
I have never adapted any Pentax 67 lenses to the 645 though I have thought about it a couple of times. Why do you find this particular lens so interesting that you have decided to adapt it?

I like to shoot people, mainly portraits. The 105 on the 645 is a short tele lens. Compared to the 75 it has great, great subject isolation with stunning sharpness fall off. Perhaps it is my technique, or lack thereof, but I never got that pop effect with the 75. It is a little tricky to say, but of all the lenses I own this one is definitely among my all-time top 3.

Go for it. And if you don't like the handling or image quality, let me know. There is a fair chance I'll buy your 105 as I do not mind having two of those. I like it that much! (And if you do, make sure you have the original Pentax 67 - 645 convertor. I've heard not so great things about cheaper, third-party adapters)

As per my earlier link Pentax 645 N split image screen

Have received and installed it today. Good and bad at the same time, overall I would not recommend it unless one is OK with the following:

1. Screen comes in a small box and is inside a small zip lock bag, no material protecting it otherwise. Pulling the screen from the box in that zip bag was not giving me high confidence. Also it does not come with tweezers for installation purposes, although that is not as much of an issue in a practical sense.

2. Screen installs fine, but it is substantially thinner than original screen (I'd guess it's about 70% original thickness), this however appears to not make a difference as it goes against a foam and so is held in place steady with focus plain still referencing to same as original.

3. Screen is critically darker than original, although this in some cases may be fine, but I did not like how dark it was (those looking for comparison to Pentax 645 (manual focus camera) original screen it is night and day difference)

4. Split image does work and is rather large in diameter. it appears to match focus confirmation, so in that sense it works just fine. Nothing shot with it so no other confirmation on focusing accuracy at this time.

5. The overall darkness of the screen can be described as one from early days where fresnel would only light up the center of a screen with significant fall off towards the edges/corners. One might say it "helps" focusing on the middle scene and sort of helps narrowing focus to where it matters - on the split image. However, even dead center this is a good full stop darker from original. If I'm correct believing light sensors are located above the screen, internal light meter will likely be troublesome and hand held meter may be the only way to go. Seller calls it "bright screen" in description, which he must be referring to the brightening of his bank account.

Overall, for $30, it is no go from my perspective given poor packaging, lack of tweezers, very dark image. On the other hand, especially for someone with vision issues and high difficulty of manual focusing on the original 645N screen, this may just be the much cheaper solution to the problem Pentax inexcusably created on its own. The Pentax AA/AB 82 screens are few and far between, so wait to get lucky, or sell your wife to get one, or get this since it does work albeit with clear caveats above.

IN all fairness to the seller I bought the screen from, after I complaint about how dark it is I was refunded 50%, so final price was $15 (this was free international shipping, slow as hell, but it cost nothing). I would not expect the sale price to be dropped to that, but at least in my case I got to try t for $15 and that is OK. Perhaps one day its darkness will not be so much to pay to have split image in the finder.
