I just noticed an element in my 40mm pancake seems a tad loose.I really don't want to tear into the thing if I can help it but don't want to use a faulty lens. Will a bit of play effect my photos?

Without answering your question, Mike, it's a very simple lens and probably easily sorted in a few minutes if it's only a matter of an element or group having come unscrewed. Regardless of present picture quality, whatever is loose will only get looser in that neat little lens.

I should ask whether your 100% certain that it's an element that's loose or whether it's just that it rattles when you shake it. Most Pentax lenses do to some extent.

Best wishes,

Steve
