I was thinking "joined at the Hippocratic Oath".
To answer earlier comments, there were 15M American troops involved in WWII and there were 5M British troops. Guns were sent to the UK due to the scarcity of weapons there and the belief that invasion was imminent: http://histclo.com/essay/war/ww2/cou/us/aod/arms/aod-ea.html
Therefore, the US played 2 key roles in WWII with respect to the UK and that is what I meant.

Yes, a genuine word so says the OED. Which by the way gives the correct pronounciation.
I think that word should always be pronounced correctly. One word which you should always spell correctly is pronunciation !!
I think that word should always be pronounced correctly.
The spelling seems relatively irrelevant.
Pronunciation is important when pronouncing a pronoun.

Very poorly equipped. And the Russians had 29 million.
And the Russians had 29 million.
And the US was divided between Europe and Japanese theatres.
And the remaining time? The gun was discharged by a Border Services guard when he or she put down a severely injured moose who had (I assume) stumbled into a border crossing.
Only in Canada, you say?
Although later in the war, Russia (more properly the Soviet Union) was involved in the far east, and the British were involved in Africa and Asia. Or had you forgotten the African campaign and the Burma campaign?

Of course. All newsreels (and radio programs) were propaganda, from all countries.Sometimes it seems just a matter of whose newsreels you watched...
The only thing that won the war in Europe was a massive deception (Operation Fortitude) conceived by General
Dwight Eisenhower that reinforced Hitler's belief that the Allied invasion would take place at Pas de Calais.
Hitler was so obsessed with Pas de Calais, and the idea that Normandy was a deception, that he kept ?nine?
Panzer divisions at the ready in the Pas de Calais area for several days before releasing them to Normandy.
That delay is the only reason the invasion was successful.

And you have the right to arm bears.
Steve.
The point was you insinuated the ugly American bullshit " if it wasn't for America you'd all be speaking German now".
The truth is that the allies won the war and it was not just America.
And no symphony has ever been composed by a committee.I learned that no effort is won by just one person!
