I had a friend give me a Kodak Retinette (circa 1954) that he has lying about. It has some kind of "Film advance not working problem". Turns out it was a "Shutter gunked up from 50 years of use" problem.

Well this weekend I tore into it, gave it a quick Clean/Lube/Adjust and now I have a completely serviceable camera.

I still have to set the focus more precisely, but I am sure it is working just fine.

I am so proud of myself I had to share it.

Cool!
I had a sticky (ok it was plain stuck) shutter on my TLR a couple of years ago. Was mighty tempted to DIY, but didn't trust myself. I could just picture me with a few "extra" parts when all was said and done.
"Now this goes where?" :surprised:

I wouldn't have tried it if I had any money in this thing. But why not try it on a free camera.
