My Patterson tank and I are considering a separation.
First it was the leaky lid.
Then it was the inability for the tank to warm up / keep temperature in its nightly bath.
The final straw was the not-so-fool proof light-tight funnel that skipped one of its locking rings yesterday spoiling my film.

I know its not the tank, but me. I'm not good enough, and certainly not patient enough. I just want to be spending my evenings listening to piano while inversion-processing film. Not loading them into tanks slowly and triple checking everything is light tight while sweating profusely in my dark bag.

That doesn't stop me from wondering what life would be like with another tank.
Like the Jobo 2550 Multi Tank 5 over at BH.
I know just enough about it to elicit interest (inversion processing, possible upgrade path to CPP2), but not enough- eliciting a feeling of mystique and a life of possibilities and pictures.

For example:
- For inversion processing how much chemistry would I need to fill the tank up?
- Is the tank humungous? I don't have a ton of room in my apartment (hence no cpp2 (YET!))
- I'm terrified of double loading Patterson reels, they tend to stick, and i'm worried that I'll over lay the films one on top of each other. I'd like to ideally process 4+ rolls in a single go.
- I use the 20Century 5x7 / 4x5 sheet holders, they've worked great in Patterson, and I'm not sure if they'll work in the 2500.

I wonder if the 1500 tank would be better for me, but its not CPP processor friendly (you know once I've made it, in the world). Or maybe its foolish to think about the CPP compatibility at this stage.

3000 ml - 3500 ml.

The core is 24.5 mm diameter so the century holder will need to slide over the core as it is necessary for the light seal. The 2509n reel is 106mm tall, 127.6mm wide. The tank is 138.6mm wide (ID) with ribs that the reel just fits between.
i have 25xx tanks with extensions to hold a total of 3 2509n reels. I bought mine in the 1990's.

What version of Paterson tank is it? I've never had problems with leakage with the current, Super System 4 tanks as long as I burp the lids.

Overall, I prefer the Jobo 15XX series tanks, but also have and occasionally use the latest Paterson dual reel tank. It doesn't leak at all, but yes, you need to burp it.

Jobo works fine for inversion. Size the tank to the number of reels. Jobo doesn't leak.
Jobo is expensive. You might need a new Paterson tank, or make sure funnel is locked in, and burp the top cap.

Sorry, I started this post earlier. Matt has it correct. Paterson tanks and trays are the best value out there. MHOFWIW

I could be wrong, but I think the 20th Century 4x5 reel fits the Jobo 15XX series tanks. They supply a couple of rubber rings that are used with Jobo. And, 15XX tanks can be used on a CPP2.
