My Patterson tank and I are considering a separation.
First it was the leaky lid.
Then it was the inability for the tank to warm up / keep temperature in its nightly bath.
The final straw was the not-so-fool proof light-tight funnel that skipped one of its locking rings yesterday spoiling my film.
I know its not the tank, but me. I'm not good enough, and certainly not patient enough. I just want to be spending my evenings listening to piano while inversion-processing film. Not loading them into tanks slowly and triple checking everything is light tight while sweating profusely in my dark bag.
That doesn't stop me from wondering what life would be like with another tank.
Like the Jobo 2550 Multi Tank 5 over at BH.
I know just enough about it to elicit interest (inversion processing, possible upgrade path to CPP2), but not enough- eliciting a feeling of mystique and a life of possibilities and pictures.
For example:
- For inversion processing how much chemistry would I need to fill the tank up?
- Is the tank humungous? I don't have a ton of room in my apartment (hence no cpp2 (YET!))
- I'm terrified of double loading Patterson reels, they tend to stick, and i'm worried that I'll over lay the films one on top of each other. I'd like to ideally process 4+ rolls in a single go.
- I use the 20Century 5x7 / 4x5 sheet holders, they've worked great in Patterson, and I'm not sure if they'll work in the 2500.
I wonder if the 1500 tank would be better for me, but its not CPP processor friendly (you know once I've made it, in the world). Or maybe its foolish to think about the CPP compatibility at this stage.
