I have not been able to find a patent for the Sinar Norma. It is from 1947 or 1948. I am interested in the patent. It could also just be the patent number. That will help me find the original patent.

Where was it Patented, sign up for an account with Freepatentsonline. It's free with no annoying emails, or other problems.

However the search facility is better with Google Patents. Look for the names on applications, like Carl Koch, or others from Sinar, search for all you can by that name and his co-patentees, look at the cited patents and all Patents that refferr to any you find. It takes time but can be very rewarding.

I have tried all the patent searches I know, but without any luck. I have tried to get the information from Sinar, but they say it is confidential.

It is interesting how many patents Sinar has, that are dating from 1965 and later.

Swiss Patent No. 268559

Applied for 23 August 1947 at 1200 (!!! - gotta love those swiss , awarded May 1950, published December 1950.

If you read german, I can send you a copy.

Or, you can go to the German patent office and get a copy of it, and other goodies like the shutter control system and later cameras (Including, I think Arca Swiss models). The search page is here:

http://depatisnet.dpma.de:80/Depati...64201d0af8a8349caa6bef496b79325e2&stamp=35324

Put in "carl koch" for applicant and "kamera" in the full text search. If you choose to sort results by ascending date it's the first one on the list.

Thanks, just what I needed. It is for my next project. I want to modify a Norma to make it a usefull 20x24" camera. I want to keep it in the same design and materials as the Norma. I am sure it can be done. Anyway this is a project for next winter.
