Just picked up one of these little beauties and have found a new favorite. The camera was in good overall condition and all I needed to do was replace the light seals (no sweat).
Alas, the self timer lever was missing and it makes my OM-1 look a bit hacked up.Where can I get this part? Is there a Canadian supplier?

Thanks Much

The same stuff used for the light seals is used inside the camera around the prism. It must be replaced too otherwise it will eventually destroy the prism. If it's overall in good shape you should have it CLA'd more sooner than later. As an aside you will get the lightmeter adjusted to 1.5V batteries too.

There is an Olympus repair place in Toronto, Nortown Photo . com that have been the Olympus specialists in Canada. Not sure if the do stuff as old (and great) as an OM1. Failing that there is John (?) Olympus specialist on this list from the States.

Yeah, John Hermanson is the OM guru. I sent my OM-1 down to him and he did a very nice job tuning it up. Send him an E-mail and ask him what the job would cost. With the Canadian dollar back up again sending stuff to the US for work is not too expensive.

It's usually not hard to find a parts OM-1 to be the donor for something like the self timer lever. Apart from that, I'm guessing Nortown can do the job. I agree that spending the loonies for a CLA is worth it. The OMs have lasted for over 30 years with little or no maintenance, so a tune-up should give you another 15-25 years service.

John has my nicely-brassing OM-2 right now, and when he's done my chrome OM-1n will go to him. Then an OM-2n, then ... lol. He's also done a 35SP, a 35LC and an XA for me. Hey, he should buy me a drink!

Anyone have an email for John Hermanson. I have an originally owned OM-1n that I'd like serviced.

John, is the man. He has done many CLAs for over the years. I have two or three that I need to send to him now. Great service and great work. The ones I'll be sending are new ones to me, not one he has already gone through before. Be sure and get them converted to modern batteries. Bill Barber

I was going to offer the parts, then I noticed you were going to get them from Nortown Photo. Then Nortown Photo ORDERED THE PARTS FROM ME. Then he said to cancel the order. Oh well. John, www.zuiko.com
