Hi,

I bought a 'bargain' Mamiya TLR lens on eBay recently. It had a broken shutter bit mint optics and went v. cheap.

I fancied having a go at fixing the shutter. No big deal, the shutter cocking lever has snapped off as it exits the body of the shutter. Otherwise it seems to function.

In the worst case I can spend about 48 man hours with a needle file and a sheet of metal and carve a new part :surprised: , but since it is a bit more intricate than I hoped..

Does anyone know a supplier of spare parts for TLR shutters?

I had a google but could track down anything.

Alternatively maybe the wheareabouts of a scrap TLR lens?

Either would make life a lot easier!

It is an 80mm lens with the early chrome shutter.

Ta.

First: parts are not stocked for the chrome shutters any more (and may not even be so for the black shutters either now), so you are going to need a donor shutter.

Next: I would check with local repair shops. Repair guys usually have tons of 3/4-broken crap lying around for which they'd love to charge you 5 to 10 bucks.

Well, it's a pile of crap until someone needs a part. Then it's a box of money!

My only point was that once you find it, it will very likely be cheap.

Thanks for the tip, I tried to find a few local camera repairers to ask.... but slightly to my horror I discovered that they all seem to have disappeared!!! :-o

By 'early chrome shutter' do you mean the Seikosha-MX, or the more common Seikosha-S? The S parts should be more common, though I'd try and find a working shutter and swap the optics. There were at least two versions of the black Seiko shutters used as well, not to mention the odd Copal.

It is a Seikosha-S.

Thanks for the camera repairer info. Useful for future reference even if he can't helpwith this. I used to know of several camera repairers over the years in the Hanley / Stoke area, now gone. On wonder if Hitech are an offshoot of one of these?

I've emailed him, anyway. We'll see.
