that one hole back can be a pro but not a pro s. push the pin a few times... it may clear itself from old lube

Oh where oh where to lube, your saying only the pin correct?
And it springs back ok.. will go to shop and get oil

wd40... not oil. wd evaporates over time n will clean it.

look between the plates... follow the pin as you turn

Yes WD.. one small drop, on the inside where screw head is.. no change.. with film back off... both Vert & Horz the pin comes out..
Whats interesting .. with the rotor off, looking on back of camera there are two pins that on each upper corner of camera, but label says.. Mamiya RB67 on front.

pro s body?
lube the actual pin.

Who knows.. but
Embarrassing.. found the problem
hang on.. oh boy there are two holes on both... to see the hole, one has to move the lever for double exposure.

On the one giving trouble.. it is not resetting because door is open, even with lever covering dot.. hang on will see if I can clean..

oops... wrong mode?

the red dot by the advance lever set to single shot?

Hmmm.. yes dot covered, and door wants to come out, but stops. Set to double exposure, door is all the way in.
So with it back single shot, dot covered, knife tip pull door out to cover hole, and it springs back, but not all the way. So its the film back.

For clarity, to get full Pro S functionality (double exposure prevention, etc.) you need:

1) Pro S insert;
2) Pro S back shell;
3) Pro S rotating adapter; and
4) Pro S body.

If the insert and the shell are not matched, they won't go together.

But if the back + insert is, for example, a Pro S pair, the body is a Pro S, and the rotating adapter is only a Pro they will all fit together nicely, but you won't have Pro S functionality.

I only point this out to make it clear for future discussions that there are four components to the compatibility question.

run the backing paper now?

try both modes, never mind the plate over the hole... it covers after the flag n opens after advancing.

dont mess with that plate, its connected to the signal arm n can cause problems if you force it!

thanks matt

1) Pro S insert;
What is this? Where is it located .. I only see the other three, if the back shell = the film holder.

The thing will not reset because the door is open for muti exposure, and will not close when lever is moved over dot. SO this has to be repaired. I really would rather not take this back apart... hmmm

Oh my... hahahaha..
I pressed the lever underneath the advance and door closed.. now to test.. oh my...

oh sheit... i wish i could see the thing in my hand. its got to be a simple problem.

never mind the covered hole... try backing paper again in both modes in verticle.

aaaaaannnnnddddd??????

Oh MY... Problem solved...
I'm going to have to look up about that dang lever, somehow must have moved it, and it must look the door open, no matter what where the lever is at.

Thank you very much paul.. for your patience.. two thumbs up...
I've learned allot about this camera today..

omg you were killing me with suspence!

that door is the double exp prevention. it doesnt do anything else.

glad you got her working!

1) Pro S insert;

What is this? Where is it located .. I only see the other three, if the back shell = the film holder.

What we generally refer to as a back is actually two different parts - the shell and the insert. The insert has all the important parts, and the shell is just the shell.

Theoretically back in the day one could have bought separate back shells and inserts - say one shell to be switched between 120 and 220 inserts - but I've never actually seen them sold separately

thats what alot of people did but there are a few flavors of the same inserts n when swapped, the seals didnt quite mate the same. how many times id get light leak problems only to find out one shell was swapped however it fell. its those corner seals that were the culpret most times... especially with 220 vs 120 inserts

yeah my right shoe fits my left foot... but my toes will complain.

Life is interesting.. left brain, right brain
Hahaha..
dink me o off and develop all de muti exposurers...
and finish my go nuts off...

good night peter... hope to see some great pix soon.
