Is there a replacement material for Kodak Panalure?

I hate to say this, but there doesn't seem to be any replacement for Panalure in either true b/w processing paper, or RA-4 processing paper. The "best" choice now, it seems, for making high-quality b/w prints from color negs and transparencies would be scanning, removing color content, then inkjet printing.

Since this is an analog forum, I don't think we need to discuss merits of this approach, though. A final word, fibre-based darkroom developing b/w prints can be made on some machines by laser exposure from scans.

Yes, the Ilford Ilfospeed RC Digital.

Not the most ideal form of three seperate bands (though it is questionable whether this would really be necessary for b&w printing), but rather continuous with a strong sink at 580nm.

This should work fine for printing from colour negatives with some filtering for the mask.

Ask Simon Galley to make it available in sheets.

I also posted something before, with no reaction... there's this friend who has a small stock of panchromatic B&W paper (in 8x10 and some bigger sizes) and wants to sell it... if you're interested, tell me and I'll ask about the sizes, quantity and price. The paper is labeled Wephota, but since they didn't manufacture paper it must be something else... maybe Kodak... maybe not.

WEPHOTA:

There seem to have been at least two paper coating facilities withing the GDR Orwo complex.
One in Dresden and one in Wernigerode (VEPHOTA).
The latter stopped their own production and became a sales company importing paper having been custom produced for them in the Czech Republic. They were offered under the ORWO brand.

They had to give up that brand and from 1997 they used the WEPHOTA brand.


I found the following panchromatic b&w papers in my files:

Panalure (fiberbased)
Panalure II RC
Panalure II Repro RC
Panalure Select RC (3 grades)
Ektamax RA (chromogenic, RA4, 2 grades)


GAF:

PP-675 Panchromatic Paper

Labalure (2 grades)

Panchto RP


Forte:

Equitone RC

Too much files...

I just realized that in the Wephota pricelist of 2006 there is a paper called `Equitone PE´.

I assume it's the same as the one I mentioned in my post above!
(So, in case George is running out of stock...)

Thanks, I didn't know there were so many players in the Panchromatic paper game...

If Forte still produces the Equitone paper (in their inexistent factory) then the Wephota one will still be available...

I just got hold of the current listing of Wephota: no more listing of Equitone.
