I inherited a few rolls of PanX that was laying around in someone's basement for an undetermined period of time; probably 5-10 yrs. I said, "What the heck! Let's play with it." and shot some up and recently developed them.
Never having used or developed the film, it was almost a complete guess as to how to handle it. After snooping around here and a few other places I grabbed some Rodinal 1:100 that had been sitting in my darkroom for about a month, waiting for film. I processed it for 10.5 minutes with very gentle agitation and got quite a surprize, even though I wasn't expecting much....I got NOTHING!
The film was completely blank/clear; not even the hint of an image; not even frame separation.....???????????
I noticed when pouring the developer out that the solution appeared to be really dark. Darker even than the Rodinal, which has a tendancy to darken with age.
Now the film and images are no real loss, as I was just playing around with it. Is the film telling me that its gone round the bend, given up the ghost? Or was Rodinal the wrong choice for this film? (Now, some of you are probably laughing at what I think is probably a dumb novice mistake. Let me in on it so I can slap my forhead and laugh too...)
I have about thirty rolls of Litho film of similar vintage and unkown manufacture(think its kodak) that I may want to play around with too. But I'm at a similar loss as to how to expose/develope it...any suggestions?
