Someone has invested hundreds of hours of build experience to put a 5 3/4" Packard #8 Shutter into a minimum space and then neck it down to a 4X4 lens board. I'm showing it on my 1940's Speed Graphic (NOT INCLUDED IN THE SALE BUT AVAILABLE) to show you what the capability of this machine is! The shutter's aperture is 2 3/4". That means an 11" f4 (Verito and many Petzval's) lens can mount on the front and suffer no bottle neck reduction. This is designed to fit in any space that a Graflex C 4X4 lens board will work. That means Deardorff 4X5, Zone VI 4X5, Wisner 4X5 and a whole host of others with a 4X4 wood lens board attachment could use this shutter!

It is a Packard #8. That means the original intent was to have one hose for "Bulb" or stay open indefinitely, and one hose for Instantaneous (about 1/20th second). But in this century we ignore the Bulb hose. It was then and remains superfluous. With 30 seconds practice the Instant one can do the same thing. So only one piston gets used. And this is in perfect working order. The Instantaneous setting works great, and if you want the shutter open for focus you just start the Instant cycle and release pressure at the wide open moment in the cycle and it stays until you quite literally suction it closed with the bulb.

Lens board size is 5.5" and it comes with the single board shown. That board has a 3" hole and is fractured through one of the flange mount holes. Be careful. It should be carefully wood glued together in that fracture before use. There are no sliders to hold the lens board on, you'll need to come up with something for that. The wire sticking out is a tested and working flash sync.

This is a superb solution to get those dream shots with that barrel lens you bought and haven't figured out how to actually use it yet! $OLD + something for the USPS folks.
