Has anyone tried printing negs, trans, fixxons or Pictorico on the P5370 and how was it?

No direct experience, but looking at the specifications I don't see why it won't print good negatives.
The ink set is very similar to that of the P800/900 so it should have good density in the UV. Curves designed for the P800/P900 printers may need a little tweaking but I doubt they will be far off.
The vacuum mechanism for paper handling should also be a large plus with regard to printing on OHP film vis-a'-vis "pizza wheel" issues.
Since the P5470 is a pro level printer you should expect a much higher level of service from Epson than one gets with the typical printers. This includes both pre-purchase service from the sales department as well as post-sale service.
Thus, I would get in touch with a full-service Epson pro dealer and see if you can arrange for a custom demo specifically regarding printing digital negatives. At the very least, they should be willing to print a few files for you especially if are willing to send them the media. An in-person demo would, of course, be preferable.

I agree with @fgorga's comments. This printer should be fine - but with the same basic limitations that any inkjet system has when it comes to printing digital negatives. There's a limit to the resolution you can achieve and the dot-patter translates in a certain quality to tonal transitions. How this shows up mostly depends on the ultimate printing process; e.g. processes with some bleed (cyanotype or salted paper on a typical 'fine art' paper) will give an overall smoother tonality than more discrete processes (e.g. carbon transfer on a surface like glass or RC/PE paper). But this is inescapable when it comes to inkjet printed digital negatives. The banding issue you've been battling earlier is not an inherent inkjet property and I'd expect that getting a brand-new printer should (at least theoretically...) free you of that issue.

Ok the latest news is they will only send me a 'refurbished' not new P900 (I tried) and it's on the way. It took a little yelling but we're getting there. They promised to test it first so hopefully we can move on to other kinds of threads
