P-aminophenol purpose in reversal bath

It's there, usually in tiny amounts. Does anyone know what for?

It is not always there, but if it's , usually in patents with stannous cloride - these patents state why (for example, US5736302) - for stabilization of stannous ion. Hydroxylamine is more often used for this purpose in amateurs recipes.
