Ozone bubble for film/paper rinse?

I wonder is there anyone ever thinking of using ozone generator in the film/paper washer?
will it help get rid of the chemicals? or can it save some water?

Too much Hydrogen Peroxide isn't good for image stability, Peroxide was recommended in the 50's & 60's for Hypo elimination but is no longer recommended.

I'm way behind the curve regarding darkroom techniques these days and I've never heard of using ozone. I do know that's it's very toxic.

I still use it... but would love to be showed the error of my ways...

I think the info I have seen doesn't really demonstrate any problem if the material is ultimately toned... its just that with untoned material, some sulfur "toning" unintentionally (and under an uncontrolled condition) takes place. Some toning being better than none, the idea of leaving some residual hypo behind took root.

Anyway that is how I saw it when I looked at it years ago.

Ray - the current thinking is that a little bit of thiosulfate left in the film/paper will actually protect the silver by forming a little coating of sulfide on the silver. Like sulfide toning, but at a greatly reduced amount. Hypo Eliminators remove all the thiosulfate by converting them to sulfate, which is easily removed from the emulsion. So it's believed that it's best to not get rid of all the thiosulfate, and so hypo eliminators are now not recommended.
