i have a box of neopan quickloads dated from 2005 that i want to shoot.is there anything i can do with it to help.it has been room temp stored since i got it fresh.is it worth using.i am going out of town and cannot try it before i go which would be the ideal.also i have some provia 100f from 2003.worth using or not??
ant help or advice would be helpful.

If you are not sure about the film save it for less important things that can be redone if needed. If going out of town I would buy fresh, why risk it?

Might as well see if it works. If you don't try you will defiantly come home with nothing.

I've found B&W film isn't so bad developed as long as it's fairly slow. I developed some early 1970s B&W ISO100 film this year (with photos shot on it in the 1970s) and it was surprisingly okay except for the lightleaks and such from being a poorly rolled 127 roll. Wasn't a huge amount of base fog problems like I've seen in similarly aged c-22 film processed as B&W.
The only other old B&W film I've had problems with was HP3 4x5 sheet film. That has a shedload of basefog but I just bought that for fun off of ebay

In short, don't worry about a few years out of date

Dear rkmiec,

Just use it normally. Assuming "room temperature" means that it has been stored in a climate controlled area, it's really not old enough to have any serious problems.

you will have no problems. enjoy. i routinely use out dated films a bit older than you are using and i have no problems.
