Jim Chinn was also saying he will be making film holders at a more reasonable price than they seem to be at this time.

Ouch! Looks like I'll be staying with the puny 8x10 for a while. If Jim can set up tooling for these parts, he should be doing very well with the market as inflated as it appears to be.

This is the number one reason I've not seriously looked into either a 7x17 or 8x20 camera. I'm drawn to the panoramic LF cameras, but I can't stand the thought of spending more for one film holder than I did for my entire Calumet Green Monster.

Do we have any idea yet when Jim Chinn might be sharing some prices, or even some pictures of his cameras?

Scary, but true. And it's a fact often forgotten when that 7x17 Korona on Ebay looks like such a bargain...

Not out of line, just dumb considering that the person could have gotten a new AWB holder for less......go figure...

YES. OOL. I paid $185 each for 2 beautiful 8X20 holders just last month on Ebay. Those did look nice and modern though but still...when clean used things get within 70% of new I take a hike.

Definitley too high for this particular holder in my opinion. I don't know who made this holder but I recognize the design having owned one myself in 12X20, and having restored five in 8X20 size for another party. The formed aluminium looks like a good idea but in practice the design makes the installation of a a spring baffle light trap very difficult. And in fact, none of the holders of this type that I have seen had a spring baffle at all, just a piece of felt that was glued in the opening. And every one of this type that I have seen had a serious light leak.

Hope the fellow who bought the holder does not read this, but he paid way to much, considering the price of new S&S and AWB holders, and now on top of that will have to figure out how to make it light tight because it probably leaks.
