I got an email from orwo related site and it reports that their 3 ASA film has too much silver halide inside. First thought was higher the silver halide content makes higher ASA ! Am I wrong ?

Thank you ,

Huh? I've been shooting with this and find it no different than any other regular B&W film other than the speed, which I've found to be 6 in daylight.

I can't see that the amount of halide in an emulsion directly relates to its ASA speed ? Surely the speed of an emulsion depends on the manufacturing process, e.g. ripening, sensitising dyes, etc. Some of the classic photo papers boasted high silver content (e.g. Gevaluxe), but their sensitivity was much less than any regular film.

ORWO Duplicating Positive Film DP 31 is a film for the production of intermediate positives (master positives) after negative black and white or color.
If you look at the ORWO DP31 spectral sensitivity curve and characteristics curve you'll find that are different from those of a black and white negative.

First, DP 31 gradient is 1.6 as against 0.65 from a normal negative.
And DP 31 spectral curve is different from a spectral curve an normal negative film.
I when I used ORWO DP3 for photos I developed lower, not to have a contrast so great.
By lowering processing sure they will never get the 6 DIN.
I like to make sure, draw a clin of exposure.
I make normal exposure and ± 1 aperture.
DP 31 with a nonlinear spectral curve get photographic results different from those obtained on a true negative.
Of the three frames you can choose the best exposure.
My tests with ORWO DP 3 you can see here:

I come back and say that the data you give us Mustafa are taken from a discussion.
To give a correct answer to Mustafa, according your expectations I want:
- Presenting the entire discussion (whether it is not private / secret);
- Tell us what you want to use Orwo DP 31 (intermediate positives or as a negative photo);
- Want you follow the process recommended by the manufacturer? (Gradient 1.6)
- Want to develop in another gradient?

Someone sent me an email in connection with ORWO DP31.
I've accidentally deleted it.
Can he send it again or send email on APUG.
