According to "Agfa Rezepte" (german), 4th edition 1960, p. 30 as follows:

Are you not supposed to add water, but sprinkle a mix of the dry powder onto the undeveloped film?

If this is supposed to be a liquid developer, how much water are you supposed to add? Something seems to be missing in the recipe you are quoting.

If you look at Orwo 71 and 71A recipes, the water is left out too.
I assume the solids to be dissolved all in some water and then it filled up with further water to make 1L.

You'll probably be clear now.
On page 48 ORWO FORMULAE write that the formulas are calculated for the 1000 ml final candity.

I think the formula for the Orwo A71 packs is actually Orwo 71a - the Orwo A71 packs contain two packets, one large for the accelerant, preservative and restrainer and one with the developing agents, this is commonly marked as containing phenidone (not Metol) and Hydroquinone. So there's a big difference between 71 and 71a.

Hello,
is there any way I can get a digital copy of this book?
I looked for it, but it doesn't seem to be available online, even for a fee.

Interesting. The English edition seems to be rare. But in a search, the German paper edition came up in several places. However, the amazing thing for me is that I was able to find it in my country for only $2.50 - the deal of the day. It arrived today - I'll have a look at it tonight

It is about "ORWO Rezepte" - 1978
