I can get my hands on some Oriental GF-2 paper for cheap. I don’t usually print on fixed grade paper but was wondering if this will work for lith printing? this paper was apparently purchased in 2010.

Thanks!

It's impossible to say affirmatively, I'd pose that question to the lith printing group on Facebook for people that might've actually tried this. However, Oriental FB papers are known as being good for lith printing, no idea for this specific paper though

Are you talking about older Oriental paper, or new stock? I haven’t heard of the new stuff lithing at all (other than the warm and cool tone papers, which for some reason are not available in Japan), but I have been out of the lith loop for a while.

The new ones are variable grade I thought. The ones I have now are grade N. Package looks similar to new one but is about 10 years old it said. Labeled “GF-2”

Well, I don’t think I can be of help to you, but I know I have some older Oriental papers that I used for lith in my darkroom, I’ll try to remember to take a look when I get home. FWIW, I’ve always had good experiences with graded papers for lith, although with the exception of Fujibro, most were discontinued quite a few years ago.

This stuff liths amazingly well!
Long development times compared to fomatone MG 131, but very smooth warm tones. Interestingly, the stuff in the blue boxes is still available here in Japan. The big retailers put old stock out at 30-50-% discounts every month. I’ve picked up a lot of oriental RC paper for contact prints that way. I’ll see what they have in the fiber department next time. Thanks for the tip!
