Help Please !! Just picked up a B&J Orbit 4x5 in very good condition except for the front standard locking knob to secure it to the monorail after focus. Screw is broken.
I'm hopeful someone has a replacement piece just laying around or knows where I may find one.
Any help appreciated, thanks.

Hardware store, should have US machine screw threads. Ebay people sell all manner of knobs.

Thanks for the reply but the screw has a recess milled into it between the threads and knob.

Regardless, I had chance this morning to take it apart and the screw is fine, but unfortunately the female thread is stripped. Looks like I need the the entire piece that rides on the monorail, the front swing standard is attached on top of that.

Again, anyone have an idea where I could obtain one?

I know nothing about the stripped threads referenced here (how accessible, how small) but there are thread repair materials generally available generically called Helicoil, or thread repair inserts. Might help?

McMaster Carr is an excellent source for thread repair inserts, with a wide variety to choose from.

Might be worth a look.
