So looking a bit deeper into this, Plustek website implies there was a 120, a 120 Pro, and now 120 being a newer version of first 120. That latest one has Silverfast 9 Ai included which is key clue as being the newest version of this scanner.

Interface is 2.0, as it was on first attempt 120, and 3.0 on 120 Pro was claimed to significantly increase data transfer speeds. As these scanners can be set to produce very large files (for hardly any gain in quality) that 3.0 might have been a difference maker for busy scanning studio.

All above based on what Plustek website is showing.

While I don't use a PulseTek I have had a recent occurance of banding on my Reflecta RPS 10M with SilverFast9 Ai. Further investigation showed that CyberViewX ( the OEM software for the Reflecta) does not produce banding.

With my particular combination it showed up on grossly overexposed HP+ negatives (unfortunately there was a keeper in the group that us why I dug deeper into it) but no bands when tested using CyberViewX.

I am continuing to run tests but right now I am thinking it is a software problem not a hardware problem. I did also test various resolutions (1000, 2500, and 5000 ppi); the bands were there regardless of the resolution. The pitch/size of the bands does vary with resolution though.
