Oprah's Webcast

Yesterday was first time for a collective webcast where you could interact with the host trough Skype. So 139 countries were involved and over 500000 people logged in
I was wondering if something like this would be possible in photography? Someone like Sandy to present Carbon process end people all over the world be able to watch/log in and interact with the host for a nominal fee? Right now me having to pay air fare/seminar fee to go to New Mexico to visit Bo&Su for a seminar. It would create more interest and more people would be able to attend because the cost would be less?
Just a taught.

We used to use web video for meetings at Kodak, and they were a real pain. They were fast enough to give good video and sound, but kept disconnecting. We used to use a wall with a table against it, and the others used the same, so it could be arranged to look like a huge conference room. It was quite amazing.

In any event, this would work with a little effort at the transmitting end. I could easily do this with the video equipment I now have, but I think that the bandwidth might limit the quality of the video. I suggest rather that the session be pretaped with narration and then be broadcast with the instructor running the tape and stopping it for questions.

How does that sound?

I also logged into Oprah's webcast and I too was disconnected after a short time. I only saw about 20 minutes of it. If one could download the video and have the presenter available, as P.E. suggested, seems to me to be a better plan at this time. Then again, Oprah had over 500,000 viewers. I am sure a Carbon or Platinum & Palladium Presentation would have fewer viewers which just might make it do able. But infrastructure costs might be preventative.

Good Idea though.

The porn industry has had podcasts and live feeds now for years. Sure it can be done. Many of my meetings in my former and present company are live feeds with presentations and redlining capabilities. There are numerous service providers out there - here's just a few:

I use Web ex quite a lot, often with participants half-way around the world. It's pretty close to being there.
