opemus 5 enlarger colour

my daughter is a keen photographer. She has the opportunity to get an enlarger which we believe to be a good one but it has no manual. Does anyone know anything about these? or where I can download a manual from? Where is the bulb situated and how can I check it works?

You might try the Meopta web site. They have manuals for some of their products though you may need to read Czech.

I did a search and the manual has been posted here before but the link is now dead. I have the Opemus 6a with the color 3 head, not sure how similar it is to the 5, but maybe I can help. Do you have the enlarger with you now?

I found the link too but with the same result as you. Yes I do have it in front of me but it is plugless at present, my main immediate query is how to check whether it has a bulb and then once I can get out into the world again (snowed in as you are I presume) I can get a plug and try it out. I am a real ignoramous on these things and really don't know top from bottom

Do you have the transformer? The enlarger is from 1982-1984. You can see it at the bottom of this page:

The Meochrom head should unscrew - check round the side and underneath where it meets the main body - you should have access to the bulb once it's off.

I have the 2 parts seperate now the box bit (meochrom) and the part which has a sort of red lens attached but I can't see a bulb, I can see a large magnifying like lens inside, is that a bulb or am I looking for a normalish style bulb?
