Its been 8 years since I've printed anything. My collection of old chemicals includes an opened bottle of Record Speed Fixer. Seems to clear film just fine. Any concern on using it for prints?

My ancient opened bottles of HC-110 and Rodinal still work perfectly. Ilford PQ paper developed was no good.

Yes, I'll refresh my chemicals if this is "for real" on getting back into it...

Also I used to make my own chemicals. A favorite included PC-TEA if I remember correctly. My bottle of TEA looks a bit yellow. I wonder if it is cooked even though I thought PC-TEA had good longevity.

Your Rodinal will still be good in the 22nd Century.

As to the fixer...

There are test kits for proper fixation. If it works, it works.
I don't recall seeing longevity specs for fixers.

I'm returning to the darkroom after about a two-year hiatus.
I bought new chems except for the Rodinal, which I know lasts forever.
