I got this D5500 controller as a spare for my Omega D5500 enlargers. Will check it out before I power it up.

It is very nice in side. Looks like new. Nothing burned that I can tell. This is the later model with the push-button panel. That is why I wanted it. (the earlier model had a membrane touch panel).

On inspection it looks like the "T" button is broken. The top and bottom pieces have sprung apart. Maybe I could glue it back, or just find a new switch.
I have a box of spare parts, I should have an extra button in there....

Here is a non-functional D5500 Translator Controller with a push-button keypad. I can pull a "T" button from the area circled.
There are 4 solder points under the switch, but the inner two are for the tiny LED, those don't need to be de-solderd; the LED can stay on the main board. The LED is not attached to the switch, it sticks up in the hole in the bottom of the switch.

Remove the broken switch. The broken switch shows how it works. The two pins (which were soldered to the PC board) pass right through the base of the switch and are joined by a metal jumper in the top part of the switch when it is depressed. I see some green corrosion on the pins, so this switch may not have worked too well anyway. Also, it looks like the letters slide in from the side and could probably be be changed around easily.

New "T" switch in place. Ready to go back together.

Re-assembled. It is actually in really nice shape under the dirt.

Well done. There is something extremely satisfying about repairing/refurbishing/cleaning up equipment, tools, vehicles, buildings...

Thanks for sharing. This was interesting to see.

Any advice on finding controllers? There's an enlarger for sale cheap near me, but it's been separated from it's control panel.

I'm handy with electronics and could probably build something compatible given a schematic, but if someone has a stockpile of controllers somewhere I'd just as soon ask.

I got two controllers from a local used photography equipment dealer in the early 2000s, but since then all my D5500 equipment has come from ebay.

Is that the one I sold you? Glad you were able to use it. I gave the chassis away for free. Still have some of the neg carriers but everything is boxed for moving.
