Hi,

I've just come into an old but nearly mint D5 (Pro 4x5) with both condenser and cold light heads and an array of lenses and neg carriers. It is the regular B&W version not the XL. I'm trying to get a sense of upper limit of the approximate print dimensions that could be made on this enlarger with 4x5. Although there are other wider lenses included (presumably for 2 1/4 and 35mm) I'm guessing the 150mm is the correct one. From a little quick exploration it looks like the outer limit in the long dimension is between 18" & 20", more than enough for 16x20 paper (assuming a white boarder) but a little skimpy for 20 x 24and larger paper. Does that make sense? Can anyone confirm this?

Presumably for the XL version one needs a much larger grain focusser or one can't look and reach the focusing knob at the same time...
