I have an OM10 that appears to be in great shape. Everything is working save for 2 issues.

The ASA dial is stiff. I pull it up and make an adjustment, sometimes it seems smooth and otherwise it is stiff. I know with the manual adapter it is often fixed with some contact cleaner. Can the same be done with the ASA knots as well? I should add that at times after I've changed it I then have to put the camera back into auto as that setting has changed from wrestling with it.

2nd issue may be a contact cleaner issue as well. Sometimes the light meter wakes up when activating the shutter release and some times it doesn't.

The camera has sat for years unused. I also wonder if just using it will eventually solve these issues

This is probably caused by dirt, stiffened lubrication, or both.

Movement or disassembly/cleaning/relubrication would be the treatment options.

Electronic cleaner applied from outside at random may help, but it is not a substitute for proper cleaning or relubrication.

Moving the adjustment elements can make contacts conductive again, that would always be my first attempt.

Thanks, I have found with use it has loosed up quite a bit.

I also find that I can now wake up the light meter by pushing the shutter release from right to left. It doesn't seem to work straight up and down yet bit doing this side push is an acceptable work around.

I haven't yet tried any contact cleaner. If it works well enough I won't yet try to take it apart.
